INGREDIENTS

  •  4 quarts water
  •  1½ cups sugar
  •  12 ounces frozen unsweetened red raspberries
  •  10-12 tea bags (regular tea or black tea)
  •  1/4 cup fresh lemon juice
  •  fresh or frozen raspberries, lemon slices and fresh mint (optional garnish)

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. In a large saucepan or dutch oven, stir together sugar, water, and raspberries. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and let the mixture simmer until sugar is completely dissolved. Remove pot from heat, add tea bags and lemon juice. Cover and let steep for 10-15 minutes (or to your desired strength). Discard tea bags. Let stand at room temperature for about an hour to cool.
  2. Using a fine-mesh sieve, strain mixture into a pitcher (or large container). Use the back of a spoon or clean glass to press all the raspberry juice. Discard remaining berry pieces. Refrigerate until very cold.
  3. Stir before pouring. Serve cold over ice with raspberries, a lemon slice or mint sprig. For sweeter, add more sugar as desired.
